FEBRUARI 2008, gue ikut bagian dalam sebuah potongan acara di JAVA JAZZ FESTIVAL.
Potongan acara itu namanya SOULNATION. Sebuah preview untuk sebuah acara yang berkali kali gala diselenggarkan.
2 kali nama acara itu mencuat. 2 kali mati. 2 tahun sudah berlalu tanpa terlaksana.
Pantang menyerah dan seakan ingin membuat pernyataan, SOULNATION di showcase disana.
1 jam, berjibun hiphop artis lokal. Termasuk Batik Tribe, Native, Yacko, Soul ID, dan masih banyak lagi termasuk, yours truly, Pandji Pragiwaksono.
IWA K. Adalah nama yang ditunggu tunggu dan disiapkan sebagai partai puncak.
Sebelum kami mulai, semua anak anak hiphop tersebut duduk di lantai JCC… mengelilingi Masaru Riupassa.

Orang palin terkenal di hiphop Indonesia yang tidak pernah mengeluarkan 1 album-pun. Karena dia bersama dengan istrinya Gita Riupassa, adalah manajer paling terkenal di dunia hiphop Indonesia.
Dia berkata “2008 bukan hanya 100 tahun kebangkitan nasional, tapi juga tahun kebangkitan hiphop nasional”
Semua orang dengar ucapan itu. Entah apa yang dikepala orang orang, tapi gue tau apa yang ada dikepala gue.
I believed him.
I want to be a part of it.
I had my own ideas of blowin up hiphop.
Gue mau menjadi rapper bisa menjadi pilihan karir.
Kalau ditanya sekarang “Pekerjaanmu apa?”
“Saya rapper”
“Itu kan hobiiiiii…”
Gue mau orang bisa hidup dari hiphop. And honestly, its not too much to ask.
Caranya? Baca aja buku gue. Atau download e-booknya ada kok di blog ini.
Fastforward menuju hari ini…
1 hari menuju SOULNATION.
The real thing.
Its big. Its nowhere near perfection. But its finally here.
History in the making.

Belum lagi nama nama seperti Blackstreet, Rahsaan Patterson (kyknya cuma gue yg tau nama ini), Tony Toni Tone, Akon dan Ashanti.
Gue sendiri membawa sejumlah special performances.. The usual, you know how i do

Java jazz kemarin kayak sumpah pemuda-nya.
Besok, adalah proklamasinya.
Rasanya, jumlah mungkin tidak akan meledak.. tapi dulu yang bener bener tahu Indonesia merdeka juga cuma sgelintir. Bung Karno masih harus berkoar koar disemua tempat, di radio underground, mengumumkan bahwa Indonesia adalah negara merdeka.
Its true. Its not about how you start. Its about how you run the marathon.
I believe in Soulnation. Because i believe in hiphop.
