Berawal dari tweetnya @andibachtiar yang mengutip ucapan @jokoanwar “Bener kata Joko Anwar, kita harus berinovasi, bukan terus bilang kalo kita ini bangsa besar karena nenek moyang”
Tweet itu membuat gue berpikir, Indonesia memang butuh orang orang yang bener bener mengerti arti dari kata “Modernisasi” dan bisa membedakannya dengan “Westernisasi”
Kita butuh inovator
Kita butuh Avant Garde
Kita butuh visioner
Kita butuh orang yang tau dan mau melakukan sesuatu untuk membawa Indonesia maju.
Kita butuh orang yang tidak takut untuk melakukan hal hal baru
Kita butuh orang yang tidak terjebak kejayaan masa lalu
Kita butuh orang yang tidak terjebak kekayaan masa lalu
Kita butuh orang yang tau apa yang kita punya sekarang dan apa yang bisa kita lakukan untuk itu.
Susahnya, orang orang seperti ini seringkali di salah kaprah-kan orang.
Banyak orang orang berpikiran maju dianggap tidak hormat kepada sejarah dan masa lalu.
Biasanya orang orang kolot akan berpegang pada masa lalu, pada sejarah dan pada tokoh pendahulu untuk menolak sesuatu yang baru.
Padahal, tokoh sejarah kita, tokoh pendahulu kita, salah satu yang paling besar, adalah pendukung kemajuan.
Namanya, Soekarno.
Goenawan Mohammad menulis dalam catatan pinggir Tempo edisi bulan Juni bagaimana Bung Karno tidak takut untuk melepaskan diri dari sejarah dan masa lalu yang usang.
Diceritakan, Bung Karno yang baru berumur 20 waktu itu akan menikah..
Berhubung beliau suka berdandan, beliau datang ke akad pernikahannya dengan jas, pantalon, dan dasi.
Penghulu-nya keberatan dan berkata “Anak muda, dasi adalah kebiasaan orang Kristen, tidak sesuai dengan kebiasan kita dalam agama Islam.”
Bung Karno membela diri dengan berkata bahwa cara berpakaian masa kini sudah diperbaharui.
Penghulu membentak dan berkata pembaharuan itu hanya berlaku kepada jas dan pantalon.
Bung Karno langsung menyentak balik “Nabi sekalipun tak kan sanggup menyuruhku menanggalkan dasi!”
Bung Karno mengancam meninggalkan akad nikah kalau ia dipaksa buka dasi.
Penghulu tidak mau mengalah, kemudian Bung Karno berkata “Persetan tuan tuan semua. Saya pemberontak dan saya akan selalu memberontak. Saya tidak mau didikte orang di hari perkawinan saya”
Akhirnya akad dilaksanakan oleh penghulu yang berbeda. tepatnya oleh alim yang ada pada saat acara tsb
GM menjelaskan bahwa insiden ini bukan hanya menjelaskan watak Bung Karno, tapi juga problem Indonesia zaman itu: Bagaimana membebaskan Indonesia dari penjajahan SEKALIGUS dari pemikiran yang kolot.
Orang yang melawan para penjajah asal Eropa itu akan memegang posisi kembali ke akar masa lalu. Tapi Bung Karno ga gitu, Begitu pula Bung Hatta. Juga Tan Malaka, Tjipto Mangunkusumo dan Ki Hadjar Dewantara.
Berikut kalimat yang GM tulis dan keren :
“Pergerakan menentang kolonialisme Belanda telah melahirkan sebuah nasionalisme yang lain: Melihat ke depan. Nasionalisme itu berkait dengan agenda modernitas.”
GM cerita bahwa Bung Karno pernah pidato berapi api mencemooh para “Oude Cultuur – maniak” yang pikirannya hanya merindui candi, empu tantular dan hal hal lain yang kuno.
Juga di tulis oleh GM bagaimana Bung Hatta berkata di tahun 1924 , Indonesia yang muda harus memutuskan semua hubungan dengan masa lampau untuk membangun kehidupan nasional baru yang sesuai dengan tuntutan peradaban modern.
Bung Karno juga pernah marah waktu ikut rapat Muhammadiyah dan meninggalkan rapat tersebut. Alasannya? Karena perempuan dipisahkan dengan tabir
Lucunya, kemarin gue nonton Mata Najwa, ruang rapat besar PKS yang dilaksanakan di tempat modern Ballroom Ritz Carlton, perempuannya juga terpisah duduknya. Nggak membaur dengan yang laki laki. Entah kenapa dipisah seperti itu.
Mengingat kisah kisah oleh tokoh sejarah tadi, lucu rasanya kalau para kaum kolot berpegang pada sejarah untuk menghindari kemajuan, wong pelaku sejarahnya saja berpikiran maju kok.

Ford, punya proyek bernama Ford Quadracycle (ford roda empat)
Perusahaan pertama yang dia dirikan gagal karena kualitas mobilnya rendah dan harganya terlalu mahal.
Akhirnya setelah itu tutup dia cari pendanaan lagi dan dirikan pabrik baru. Kali ini dengan menggaji pekerja pabriknya lebih dari 2 kali lipat standar gaji yang ada saat itu.
Ford dianggap gila dan ngerusak standar gaji.
Tapi gaji $5 perhari itu akhirnya menarik teknisi2 terbaik di negeri, dan menghasilkan kendaraan yang lebih baik, turnover perusahaan minim dan minim pula biaya pelatihan karyawan.
Ford bisa sukses bukan karena kecerdasaannya, tapi karena VISI-nya.
Orang pinter banyak, tapi yang inovatif sedikit.
Karena inovasi membutuhkan imajinasi. Inovasi itu cocok bersanding kepada orang orang visioner.
Makanya Albert Einstein juga pernah berkata “Imagination is more important than knowledge”
Adakah di Indonesia orang orang visioner? orang orang kreatif? orang orang inventif?
Pasti ada.
dan pasti mereka sedang berjuang.
Karena tantangan orang inovatif adalah justru orang orang kolot yang kelak akan menikmati inovasinya.
Tantangan orang visioner adalah orang orang yang terlalu berpegangan terhadap masa lalu.
Tiap ngomong selalu dimulai dengan kata “DULU…. ”
Padahal, membangga banggakan masa lalu tidak akan mengubah masa depan…
Orang inovatif harus bisa bertahan, demi Indonesia.
Demi masa depan.
