Dulu masa kecil gue didominasi oleh perjuangannya.
Hingga ketika seorang Korea Selatan berwajah seperti Ivan Drago versi Asia merobohkan Ely Pical sampe nggak mampu bangun dari pojokan ring. Wajah hancur.
Pahlawan gue seperti hilang akal.
Khaosai Galaxy dengan celana biru garis putih telah mengalahkan juara dunia pertama Indonesia.
saking dramatisnya, sampe gue bikin gambarnya pake crayon.
Gue shock berat.
Maklum, anak SD, drama queer.
Banyak yang menyayangkan keadaan beliau sekarang karena jatuh bangkrut.
Katanya pemerintah tidak memperhatikan keadaan atlitnya.
I’ll tell you where i stand on this.
Gue merasa, setiap atlit yang jatuh miskin, adalah karena dirinya sendiri tidak melakukan perencanaan yang baik terhadap dirinya sendiri.
Everybody needs to change. Diversifikasi diri.
Harus fleksibel.
Tapi untuk berubah tidak bisa serta merta (??ya ampun istilah gue)
harus terencana. Harus ada perencanaan.
Ada buku bagus tentang ini, yang nulis Seth Godin judulnya The Dip.
Atau Rhenald Khasali judulnya CHANGE!
Buktinya? Banyak juga atlit yang bisa survive.
Petinju seperti Syamsul Anwar atau Atlit basket seperti Rifki diversifikasi jadi komentator/host olahraga.
I know, i know, harusnya pemerintah support mereka.
Tapi kalau ditanya mending mana duitnya, untuk bikin pendidikan dan akses kesehatan jaman sekarang jadi murah atau membiayai kesejahteraan atlit jawaban lo apa?
“Ya nggak bisa gitu doong, harusnya semua bisa!!”
Analoginya kehidupan kita aja. Bisakah kita membeli / membayar semua yang kita inginkan dalam hidup?

Bagi gue lebih penting pemerintah dalam programnya juga ikut menginisasi atlit untuk punya kemampuan lain diluar olahraga untuk ketika dia pensiun menjadi olahragawan.
Atlit itu, pensiunnya lebih dini daripada pegawai biasa. Pegawai pensiun 50-55.
Atlit umur 40an udah menurun kehebatannya. Berarti masa dia hidup tanpa penghasilan juga lebih panjang daripada pegawai pada umumnya.
Saat ini Elyas Pical menjadi kurir di KONI pusat.
Orang kemudian kritis berkata “Tega banget sih mantan juara dunia cuma dijadikan kurir di KONI”
Untuk yang ini gue hanya bisa (dan hanya mau) bilang”
“Kalau elo udah ketemu dengan Bang Ely, elo akan tau kenapa beliau hanya bisa jadi seorang kurir”
