Kadang orang salah menilai gue.
Mereka pikir gue ngotot dan gak mau kalah.
Mungkin mereka benar, tapi ada kemungkinan mereka juga salah.
“Ngotot” adalah sebuah kata yang menurut gue positif.
Persamaan katanya mungkin “Persistent”
Bahkan gue berani bilang “ngotot” adalah yang membawa gue ke titik ini.

Cuma mereka sering kali menilai gue gak mau kalah.
Untuk yang ini, gue punya alasan.
Gamila menanam prinsip “Berani karena benar” ke dalam diri gue.
Menurut dia, kalau benar kenapa harus takut? Kalau benar mengapa harus ragu?
Dan karena benar akan selalu relatif maka kapanpun juga orang akan mempertanyakan apa yang benar dan apa yang tidak. Itulah yang selalu gue lakukan.
Masalahnya, gue adalah tipe orang yang kurang nyaman melihat sesuatu yang salah.
Kepada diri sendiri dan anehnya, juga kepada orang lain.
Kalau gue tahu orang itu melakukan kesalahan, maka sebisa mungkin gue harus bilang.

Daripada dia kejebak selalu mengulang kesalahan yang sama karena tidak ada yang pernah bilangin maka lebih baik gue bilang kalau dia salah.
Masalah pada akhirnya dia setuju atau tidak dengan pendapat gue itu silahkan dia yang memutuskan.
Paling tidak, ada yang pernah bilang ke dia kalau dia salah.
Dan, hampir bisa dipastikan, kalau gue yakin dia salah, maka gue akan “ngotot” dalam bilang bahwa dia salah.
Kalau gue tahu yang benar, maka dengan “ngotot” gue akan bilang yang menurut gue benar.
Mengapa? Gue berani karena benar.
Dan gue ga mau dia mengulang kesalahan yang sama.
Ini sering kali terjadi, seperti kasus dimana Yahya mau buat kuis tentang Captain Hook-nya Peterpan. Dia mau masukin clue yang bilang bahwa tokoh ini sebelah matanya ditutup.
Gue langsung berpikir “Wah, ini bisa misleading karena faktanya adalah, Captain Hook tidak pakai penutup mata”
Tapi ketika gue ungkapkan kebenaran yang gue tahu, Yahya dan bahkan Steny sama sama berpendapat bahwa Captain Hook pakai penutup mata.
Baru setelah gue buka website dan foto fotonya, mereka tahu bahwa Captain Hook tidak pakai penutup mata.
Ternyata mereka terjebak dengan gambaran Bajak Laut selalu matanya nutup sebelah.
Ada lagi kasus dimana Steny dan gue berdebat mengenai Ronaldo (Brazil).
Gue bilang ketika Brazil juara dunia tahun 1994 di AS, Ronaldo sudah menjadi bagian dari tim. Dimana timnya ada Bebeto, Romario, Dunga, dan Taffarel.
Steny bilang Ronaldo belum ada disitu.
Perdebatan ini bahkan muncul on air.
Dengan “ngotot”nya gue buka internet dan gue tunjukin ke Steny bahwa didalam roster Brazil pada saat itu, nama Ronaldo sudah ada sebagai cadangan.
Ambil contoh sebuah kasus yang paling terkenal dari gue:
“UNAGI”
Dengan “ngotot” gue mempertahankan pendapat bahwa yang benar pembacaannya adalah “UNANGI” dan bukan dibaca “UNAGI”
Mengapa gue yakin gue benar?
Bokap gue kuliah dan kerja di Jepang. Dia yang bilang cara membacanya. Bokap gue mungkin mulutnya ekstrim, tapi beliau bukan pembohong. Maka gue percaya dengan beliau.
Dulu gue inget banget ada temen bokap gue dari Jepang yang sempat tinggal di Indonesia cukup lama. Namanya (tertulis) NAGASAWA. Bokap gue memanggilnya dengan NANGASAWA. Dia menyebut dirinya sendiri NANGASAWA. Same thing dengan UNAGI dibaca UNANGI.
Di film Nagabonar jadi 2 ada 2 orang jepang yang berbincang dengan tokoh BONAGA. Bahkan orang jepang tersebut memanggil dengan BONANGA. Tidak percaya, tonton saja lagi filmnya berulang ulang.
Bokap gue menulis buku berjudul “YOTSUYA, UNAGI BERENANG DI AIR JERNIH” Berhubung yang membawa buku tersebut ke penerbit adalah gue maka beliau mengajarkan banyak hal tentang buku tsb. Salah satunya beliau membaca UNAGI sebagai UNANGI.
Bokap gue bilang, kalaupun di Jepang ada yang membaca UNAGI sebagai UNAGI maka itu ibaratnya di Indonesia orang Jawa ngomong bahasa Indonesia dengan logat Jawa.

Seperti orang Jawa mengucapkan “Kamu harusnya MBAWA buku”
Dimana yang benar adalah “Kamu harusnya BAWA buku”
Nah, kalau udah kayak gini, jelas gue yakin dengan kebenaran yg gue tahu.
Dan gue punya hak utk meluruskan apa yang menurut gue salah.
Salah kah gue kalau gue membela apa yang sebenarnya BENAR?
Salahkah kalau gue mau mengingatkan orang ketika dia melakukan kesalahan?
Atau haruskan gue mengalah dan mengaku salah demi orang lain tidak mencerca gue?
Lebih baik gue jujur dan terhina daripada gue bohong agar diterima masyarakat.
Berlebihan?
Nggak juga, inilah yang namanya “Ngotot”
